Description:
Tired of sitting in the audience? Want to be up on the screen instead? Join the next generation of dramatic performers and visual storytellers at SOCAPA, the School of Cinema and Performing Arts. SOCAPA offers intensive study in Dance, Filmmaking, Acting for Film & Photography for High School age students (14-18). During 2 and 3 week programs, students direct and produce films, shoot production stills and head shots, act out their favorite scene/monologue, or put together new jazz and hip hop moves to their favorite tune.
The summer intensive programs allow students to learn the latest technical skills in their field and immediately put them into practice. Students leave SOCAPA with a personal portfolio showcasing their talent. The NYC programs are hosted at Polytechnic University in downtown Brooklyn, walking distance to the Brooklyn Bridge and Dumbo, while a short subway ride to Times Square and Central Park. After a day full day of classes and production, students enjoy the many experiences available to New Yorkers in the summertime: Shakespeare in the Park, a Broadway show, or a visit to Coney Island. What better place to immerse yourself in the arts than NYC, the world center of artistic exploration!
